1. Who we are
This policy covers MOVEXER, a California household goods mover based in Huntington Beach, California (“MOVEXER”, “we”, “us”). Privacy questions and requests: hello@movexer.com.
2. Notice at Collection
This section is our notice at collection under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (“CCPA”). Sensitive personal information
- Examples: your account login (e-mail and password, which we store only as a one-way hash)
- Purposes: only to provide your account and keep it secure — we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you
- Sold or shared: no
- Retention: until you close your account
We do not collect Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, precise geolocation from your device, biometric data, or information about protected characteristics. Our crew members’ work locations are tracked on moving day; that is employee information covered by a separate notice.
3. Where we get it
- From you — on the website, in the portal, by phone, text, e-mail or in person.
- Automatically from your browser or device when you use our website (section 6).
- From our team while performing the move (inventories, photos, notes, signatures).
- From service providers that help us run the business, for example our phone system (call logs and recordings) and review platforms (reviews you publish).
4. Why we use it
- To review your move, prepare a written Estimated Cost of Services and proposal, and perform the Agreement for Moving Services.
- To schedule crews and trucks and to communicate with you about your request and move by phone, text and e-mail (section 7).
- After a move, to send relationship messages such as service reminders, satisfaction surveys and review requests, and — only if you opted in — offers and moving tips.
- To handle claims, disputes and the record-keeping California requires of household goods movers.
- To understand how the website is used and which marketing works, and to prevent abuse and fraud.
- To comply with law, including requests from the Bureau of Household Goods and Services.
5. Who we disclose it to — and “sale” or “sharing”
- Service providers and contractors under written contracts that limit their use of the data to the service they perform for us: database and file hosting (Supabase), e-mail delivery (Resend), our business phone and text system (Quo), and review platforms (Google, Trustpilot).
- Our crews and office staff, who see the move details needed to do their job.
- Authorities when required by law, and others when needed to protect rights, safety or property, or in connection with a merger or sale of the business.
We do not sell personal information for money. When we run advertising, the Google tag / Google Ads, Meta Pixel and TikTok Pixel may load on public pages. Those providers receive identifiers (cookie or device IDs, IP address) and internet activity (the page viewed and events such as a submitted estimate request) and may use them for cross-context behavioral advertising. Under the CCPA that can be “sharing” (and may be considered a “sale”). You can opt out at any time on our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page, and we honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from your browser as a valid opt-out. These tags never run in the customer portal or for our staff. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.
Mobile information — your phone number and text-message consent — is never sold, rented or shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. It is disclosed only to the service providers that deliver our messages. California “Shine the Light” (Civ. Code § 1798.83): we do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing.
6. Cookies, analytics and advertising tags
- First-party, cookieless analytics. Our own analytics records page views and actions such as clicking “Get a free estimate”, with device type, browser family, operating system, approximate region, time zone, language and referring site or campaign. Visitors are counted with a hashed identifier that rotates daily and cannot be reversed into your IP address. No analytics cookie is set.
- Session storage keeps a random session id and the campaign parameters you arrived with, so we can attribute your request to the right source. It is cleared when you close the tab.
- Strictly necessary cookies: a session cookie when you sign in, a CSRF protection value, a short-lived confirmation message cookie, a cookie remembering which of our locations you chose, and the
mx_dnscookie that remembers a Do Not Sell or Share choice. - Advertising tags (Google, Meta, TikTok, and the Utmify attribution script) — see section 5. Their own policies apply: Google, Meta, TikTok.
- Server logs with the time, path, status and network address of requests, for security and troubleshooting.
7. Calls, texts and e-mail
- Service messages. When you request an estimate or create an account you agree that we may call, text and e-mail you about your request and services. These messages are not advertising. Reply STOP to any text to stop all texts; reply HELP for help. See our SMS Terms.
- Marketing (offers and moving tips) is sent only if you opted in with a separate, unchecked box. It is never a condition of purchase. Unsubscribe with the link in any marketing e-mail, by replying STOP to a text, in your portal under Account → Communication preferences, or by contacting us. We process opt-outs immediately and in all cases within 10 business days.
- Call recording. Calls with MOVEXER may be recorded for quality, training and record-keeping. When a call is recorded you are told at the start of the call. If you do not want to be recorded, say so and we will continue without recording or by another channel.
- We keep a record of each consent and opt-out (the wording shown, time, source and network address) to prove and honor your choices.
8. How long we keep it
- Move records, Agreements, Change Orders, inventories, payment records and claims: at least the period California regulations require movers to keep shipping documents, and as long as needed to resolve claims or disputes.
- Photos of your belongings: until your move is completed and any claim period has passed, then deleted on request or on our schedule.
- Call recordings and transcripts: up to 24 months, longer only when needed for a claim or dispute.
- Contact form messages, texts and support tickets: up to three years.
- Consent and opt-out records: five years after our last message to you.
- Analytics events: aggregated after 24 months; raw events are deleted. Server logs: up to 90 days.
- Accounts with no move activity: closed and deleted on request, or after three years of inactivity.
9. Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Passwords are hashed with scrypt. Photos and documents are stored in a private bucket and served only through authenticated requests. Access inside MOVEXER is role-based and logged. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting you we will notify you as California law requires.
10. Your California privacy rights
If you are a California resident you have the right to:
- Know and access the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collected about you, the sources, purposes, and the categories of recipients.
- Delete personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions (for example, records California requires movers to keep, or information needed to complete a move or handle a claim).
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising — use Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information or a Global Privacy Control signal.
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information. We use sensitive personal information only to provide your account and keep it secure, which the law permits without a limit request.
- Data portability — receive your information in a commonly used, machine-readable format.
- Non-discrimination — we will not deny services, charge different prices or provide a different quality of service because you exercised a privacy right.
Wherever you live, you can ask us to access, correct or delete your information or to stop marketing.
11. How to make a request
- E-mail hello@movexer.com with the subject “Privacy request”.
- We confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond within 45 calendar days. If we need more time (up to 45 more days) we will tell you why. Opt-out requests are honored as soon as possible and within 15 business days.
- We verify your identity by matching information you give us with our records — for example the e-mail and phone number on your account or move. For requests about specific pieces of information or deletion of sensitive records we may ask for one additional detail, such as your move reference.
- You may use an authorized agent. We will ask for your signed permission and may verify your identity directly.
12. Children
Our services are for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16, and we do not sell or share it.
13. Changes and contact
We review this policy at least once a year and post updates here with a new “last updated” date. Material changes affecting an active move will be communicated to you directly. Contact: MOVEXER · hello@movexer.com.
